An item's description in Analyst's Notebook is usually a more detailed explanation of
the information represented by the item. You can define a description for an entity or link
type in iBridge Designer in exactly the same way as defining the type label.
To define a description:
-
Build up the way the description should look in the Structure box:
- To use a field in the description, locate and select the field in the
tree view and click on the right arrow to move that field into the
Structure. Alternatively double-click on the
field name.
- To include free text, type the text into the Free
text box and click on the right arrow beside the box to move
it into the Structure.
- In the same way, select a special character from the Special character
list and click on the right arrow beside it to move it into the
Structure.
The next item you include will appear directly below the selected entry. If
more than one entry is selected, a newly included item will appear at the bottom
of the list.
-
To reorder the parts of the description, select the part you wish to move and
click on the Up or Down buttons.
-
To delete any part of an description, select it and click
Delete.
-
When you have finalized the structure, click OK.
The Status Bar in the bottom left corner of the Properties
dialog shows the Alias and table source for the selected field.
