Defining fields of a type

Use the Fields pages of the Type Properties dialog to set properties for fields in an entity or link type table in the Types Page.

By default the fields in a type page are listed in the order the tables are added to the type. The order of the fields determines the order in which the fields appear in Analyst's Notebook when Show or Find is selected. To change the order the fields are listed, select a field and click on the Up or Down buttons.

If a property is set in The All Fields page, the relevant check box is unavailable. If the check box is overridden, the field selection overrides the All fields setting.

You can set the following field properties:

Name The Name of the selected field. You can rename any of the fields by clicking on a field in the tree view and typing a new name. Each field name must be unique within the type.
Show Determines whether the field will be displayed.
Cards Allow field information to be added to the entity or link an a card when an analyst selects Populate Cards in Analyst's Notebook.
Find Enables an analyst to set conditions on the field to perform a Find in iBridge. The Query option is auto-checked and disabled. Turning off Find enables the Query check box. Only use indexed fields as Find fields. By default, the indexed fields and the first part of any multi-field index are treated as Find fields.

You cannot mark a memo or binary field as a Find field.

Find is not available for link types as you cannot perform a Find operation on a link type.

Query Enables an analyst to perform a query on the selected field in Analyst's Notebook. A query is limited for binary fields to blank (contains no data) or not blank.
Case Sensitive Changes the case sensitivity of a field to case sensitive (turned on) or case insensitive (turned off).

The settings for case sensitivity in the iBridge configuration file must match the case sensitivity of the database. If case sensitivity is turned on for a field in the database which is case insensitive, there may be duplicate entities represented on a chart. The duplicate entities contain the same data but will have unique database keys. If case sensitivity is turned off for a field in the database which is case sensitive, entities may not be represented correctly on a chart. Also, operations such as show and expand may not produce the correct information.

Case sensitivity only applies to text (string) fields.

Field represents a filename Available if a selected field is a text data type.
Attribute Class Select the required attribute class from the Attribute Class drop-down list to use a field to populate an attribute on a chart item. You can define the attribute classes in iBridge Designer before defining the field properties so it is already available on the drop-down list. Alternatively you can define or edit an attribute class by clicking and selecting the New, or selecting an attribute from the list and selecting Edit, from the Attribute Classes dialog.
Code List Use a code list to interpret the values of that field from the database table. You can define the code list in iBridge Designer before defining the field properties so it is already available on the drop-down list. Alternatively you can define or edit a code list by selecting New or Edit from the Code List dialog.
