Defining the date and time of a type

All entity and link types on a chart can contain date and time information. Date and times are only handled if they are contained in an appropriate database date, time, or date and time data type field. Dates and times within text fields are not mapped.

You may know the date of an item, but not the time, or only want the time of an item on the chart, and not the date. You can specify date and time separately.

You can choose not to specify a value, or if specified can assign:
  • the contents of a database field
  • a constant value

To define the date

In the Date area turn on Date Specify.
  • Select Field to assign the contents of a database field.

If there is more than one date data field, select the required field from the Field list.

  • Select Value to assign a constant value.

Click the arrow to the right of the Value list and select the date from the calendar.

Click on the day, month, or year, then type a number or use the up/down arrows to increase or decrease the value.

To define the time

In the Time area turn on Time Specify.

  • Select Field to assign the contents of a database field.

If there is more than one time data field, select the required field from the Field option drop-down list.

  • Select Value to assign a constant value.

Click on the second, minute, or hour, then type a number or use the up and down arrows to increase or decrease the value.

Specifying the time zone of an item

Times are interpreted as if there is a single time zone per configuration file. Where no time zone is specified in iBridge Designer, the Analyst's Notebook chart default is used. Set the time zone on the Time Zone tab of the Properties dialog.
