Generic Template

You can use the Generic Template to arrange data into a format that i2 Insights can ingest.

The Generic Template is used when an i2 generated recipe does not exist. You can ingest a broad range of data types into Insights as an interim solution while an i2 recipe is requested. Raise a Support Request so that the Insights team can develop an appropriate recipe for your data.

Notes:

  • There is a Generic Template for UK date format, and one for US date format. You must ensure that you use the correct template.

  • You can only enter one data set per template.

Using the Generic Template

If an uploaded file is not understood by Insights, you will see a "Recipe not found" message. From that dialog, use Download Generic Template Guide & Template to download the ZIP package with both templates and the full instruction guide.

To use it:

  1. Download the Generic Template package.

  2. Map your source data into the template.

  3. Import the completed template into Insights.

Example data types include CDR, ANPR/LPR, FINANCIAL, DEVICE, SAT NAV, RFPS, TELEMATICS, and OTHER.

Admissibility

The Generic Template will replicate the raw data entered onto it and will allow the data to be imported into Insights. It is the responsibility of the USER to ensure that the raw data is entered correctly into the Generic Template. Applying best practice, it is also the responsibility of the USER to check that the data they have copied onto the template is accurately reflected within Insights. If the USER assesses that the data within Insights is an accurate reflection of the raw data, the USER can use the data generated by Insights evidentially. In this circumstance, it is the USER's responsibility to validate the evidential admissibility of the raw data before they can rely on the "checked and validated" data within Insights.
