Finding connections

As well as being able to search for records, i2 Explore allows you to explore the connections between records in the database. You can find relationships between people, places, and events - for example - that might not be obvious from the records themselves.

To investigate the connections that a record has to other records:

  1. From anywhere in the application, click the name of the record you're interested in.

i2 Explore displays the record's details in the upper part of the screen. In the lower part, you'll see other records that are connected to the one you chose.

The visualization on the left is a representation of the records in the panels on the right.

  2. Continue your research by clicking records in the visualization or the panels.

As long as you remain on this page, i2 Explore adds each record you click - and its connections - to the visualization. In this way, you can build up a picture of how several records are related.
