Setting the security of imported records

An import specification that is aligned with an i2 Analyze schema must include the security dimension values that records receive as they are created. Initially, the values in the specification match the defaults in your user settings, but you can change this behavior on the Import Details page.

About this task

For a schema-aligned import specification, the Import Details page includes a list of all the dimensions in the security schema of the i2 Analyze deployment.

Procedure

The procedure for providing default values is different for single-value and multi-value dimensions:
  1. In the Security for imported records section of the Import Details page, choose the security dimension for which you want to change the default value.
Note: Your system administrator can add, remove, and restore values in the security dimensions on the i2 Analyze server. When they remove a dimension value, it becomes possible for an existing record to have a value that the server no longer uses. If that situation occurs, the 'Specified values' option displays a warning icon and the affected values show as (suspended). You can deselect any suspended values and remove the warning. If you run the import specification without changing the suspended values, the import completes with a warning count of the number of records created with suspended security.
  2. For a multi-value dimension, click the button to display the edit window, select all the dimension values to use, and then click OK. The default setting for multi-value dimensions is "Any" and this means other users who have access to any of the selected values can view the record. If a security dimension is set to "All" it means users must have access to all the selected values to view the record. In this scenario, selecting more values means fewer users are able to view the record.
  3. For a single-value dimension, use the drop-down list to select a default security value.
