Setting up i2 Overwatch for your i2 deployment
There are a number of different tasks that are required to set up i2 Overwatch, depending on your i2 deployment
Upgrading existing deployments
When you install a newer version of i2 Overwatch, the files in the installation folder are updated. Semantic types that were previously imported into other products are not updated automatically.
If you imported semantic types from an earlier Overwatch release, review the semantic type library or example schema that is provided with the new release and make any required changes to your deployment.
Standalone i2 Analyst's Notebook (ANB)
i2 Overwatch comes with a template that is used by default for standalone Analyst's Notebook deployments. If you require your own template, you can use the semantic type library Example Material\Semantic Type Library\OverwatchSemanticLibrary.mtc provided in the installation folder. You can find out more about semantic types in Analyst's Notebook, here.
If you use your own Analyst's Notebook templates, semantic types that were imported previously are not refreshed when you install a newer Overwatch release. Compare your existing template with the semantic type library that is provided with the new release, and update the template if required.
i2 Analyze
i2 Overwatch comes with an example Example Material\i2 Analyze\OverwatchSchema.xml schema that you can choose to build on, or use as a base template for your own schema. It is important to note that for your deployment to fully use the Overwatch features, you must use the semantic type library. The Overwatch semantic type library ships within the i2 Analyze schema. Learn about assigning semantic types in i2 Analyze here.
If your deployment already uses an existing i2 Analyze schema, that schema is not updated automatically when you install a newer Overwatch release. Review the example schema from the new release and apply any required semantic type changes to your deployment.
i2 iBase
i2 Overwatch comes with an iBase Example Material\i2 iBase\Overwatch Template.adt file that contains all the entities and links that Overwatch requires. You can use and build on this template, or you can create your own new template from the Example Material\Semantic Type Library\OverwatchSemanticLibrary.mtc provided in the Overwatch installation. See the iBase documentation for more information about the semantic type library here.
If your iBase deployment was created from an earlier Overwatch template or semantic type library, the template and any existing database are not updated automatically when you install a newer Overwatch release. Review the template and semantic type library that are provided with the new release, and apply any required changes to your deployment.
