Setting up query conditions in extended mode

To set up your query in extended mode:

  1. Set up the graphical part of your query conditions in the lower part of the dialog as follows:
    1. Drag the entities that will form part of your query from the palette onto the graphical area of the dialog.
    2. If the link type you require is displayed in the box above the graphical area of the dialog, click the Plus button and drag a link between two entities.
    3. If the link type does not appear, select the link type from the drop-down list and create a link between two entities.
    4. iBridge will interpret the graphics in a specific way when performing the query. For more information, refer to Interpreting query graphics.
  2. To delete an entity or link, select it and click Delete.
  3. You can now add conditions to each of the entities and links in turn as required by selecting it and following the instructions for Setting up query conditions in simple mode.
Note: You can only select one entity or link at a time and the conditions you will see in the top part of the dialog will be the conditions applying to the currently selected entity or link.

In the chart fragment, you can edit the labels of your entities and links to reflect the conditions you have added by selecting the entity or link and pressing F2, then entering the text.

Note: Changing the label on an entity or link does not affect or add conditions to the query.
  4. When you have set up all of your conditions and structure of the query, you must select which entities and links you wish to form the results of your query. These will be added to your chart. By default, all entities and links will be included. Each entity and link set as output will appear with the label in bold.
To remove the setting on an entity or link, select it and click Chart Selected Item.
  5. When you have finished setting up your query, you can perform the query.
