Changing layout settings
Chart layout settings determine how items are positioned when layouts are applied to charts. These settings can be modified to better match your needs.
Procedure
To modify the layout settings:

Click the Arrange tab, and then click Layout
Setup.
The Setup Layouts window appears.
- From the list on the left of the window, select the chart layout to modify.

Change the layout settings to suit your requirements:
Options Description Applicable layouts Size Specifies the chart area by dimensions or by minimum separation of entities. Circular, Grouped Separation Specifies the distance between entities or groups of entities. Hierarchy, Minimize Crossed Links, Organization, Packed, Compact Peacock, Peacock, Grouped by Time, Ordered, Theme Line Central Entity Arranges the other entities around a specified entity. Note: This setting asks for the identity of the entity to be used. As such it is a chart-specific setting.Circular, Grouped Entity Constraints Prevents the rearrangement of key entities, either based on selection status or a specified attribute. Compact Peacock, Peacock Double Ring Arranges entities into two rings, one within the other. Circular Blocking Arranges groups of related entities into multiple circles. Circular Animated Specifies whether the view shows you the steps that are taken to transform your chart to the selected layout. Hierarchy, Minimize Crossed Links, Organization, Packed, Compact Peacock, Peacock Apply To Specifies which items on the chart are grouped. You can group all items, the selected items only, or items associated with a particular time period. Grouped by Time, Ordered, Proportional, Theme Line Group Items Within Sets the scale at which items are grouped. Grouped by Time Root Selects the starting point for grouping within hierarchies and organizations. Hierarchy, Organization Orientation Specifies the direction of the layout and the alignment of items within the layout. Hierarchy, Minimize Crossed Links, Organization Add Corners Add corners to the links in a hierarchy so that they are arranged horizontally and vertically. Hierarchy Outer Boundary Specifies the items to position at the boundary. Minimize Crossed Links Width Specifies how the width of the layout is determined. Proportional Order Specifies how the order of the theme lines is determined. Theme Line Legacy Mode Uses the original Hierarchy layout, which does not allow for entity extents, order items within layers, or provide animation. Hierarchy - Click OK to save your changes.
