Importing files from a folder

You can import all the documents, charts, images, or text files from a folder. The text files must all have the same number and type of fields.

Procedure

To import files from a folder:
  1. In the Type area on the first page of the import wizard, select a suitable entity or link type. For example, to import documents you need an entity or link type that has one or more Document fields.
  2. In the Source area on the first page of the import wizard, click Folder Contents and then click Next.
  3. Enter the path of the folder or browse for it.
  4. If required, turn on Include subfolders to import files from any subfolders.
  5. Select the type of file to import:

    Importing documents and charts from a folder Imports all documents and charts. This option does not import any image files:
    1. Select Documents and click Next to continue.
    2. Assign the Document row in the Source Field column to document field.
    Importing pictures from a folder Imports all pictures:
    1. Select Pictures and click Next to continue.
    2. Assign the Picture row in the Source Field column to a picture field.
    Importing text files from a folder Imports all the text files from a folder although the files must all have the same data structure. You might want to keep text files in a separate folder from other file types.
