External searches
Some i2 Analyze servers allow you to access information from external data sources, as well as or instead of the Information Store. The available data sources depend on how your system administrator configured the server for your organization.
You can use the External Searches feature in Analyst's Notebook to search external data sources for information. Your system administrator can configure queries to accept parameters that help to fine-tune your searching, and allow you to select items on the chart to use as seeds in more complex search operations. You can also use Visual Queries to search external data in a similar way to how they are used to search the Information Store.
When the i2 Analyze server provides access to external data sources and the Information Store, you can upload the results of external searches to the Store as new records. You can use records from external sources to complement the analysis that you perform with any other i2 Analyze records. You cannot create your own queries for external data sources, only your system administrator can do that.
