This document provides an overview of the new features, system requirements, and known issues for i2 Insights 1.0.0.
Important notices
⚠️ Installation
i2 Insights requires that i2 Analyst's Notebook 10.1.0 has been installed with support for i2 Analyze enabled. This is the default for a Typical installation, however in a Custom installation it is possible that i2 Analyze was not selected.
To install the i2 Insights, extract all components from the compressed file using the Extract All... option in the Windows right-click menu. Navigate to the root of the extracted folder and run setup.exe
, then follow the installation prompts.

Release highlight details
Data Management
The Data Management panel is the starting point for Insights, where you can provide supported file types that are automatically processed by the system.
Upon processing, the Data Management panel automatically shows a list of all the subjects within the files along with a list of called numbers.
You can use this panel to set the time period you're interested in, along with setting attributions to assign human-friendly names to the subject phone numbers.

Intelligence View - Dashboards
The Analyze tab in the intelligence view automatically shows Insights after the files have been processed. This panel can be configured to filter by event type or show & hide subjects. All of the widgets in the dashboard support exporting either as data or an image.
The Analyze tab has several dashboard components:
Histograms
The Histogram shows all of the subject phone numbers activity over the period of time defined.
Communications
The Communications Bar Charts show the activity of all of the subjects, highlighting which phones have been in the most calls, along with which device has made the most and received the most calls.
Hours Comparison
The Hours Comparison widget shows the pattern of life for the subject phones, showing which time of the day the device was active.
Heat Matrix
The Heat Matrix shows all of the subject phones activity, and can be configured to show only the subjects, the subjects and common numbers or all devices communicated with.

Intelligence View - Lists
The Lists view shows all of the processed data files in one tabular list. This view supports searching through the view along with limiting the rows to the selected ones only.
You can export this list either to a formatted Excel file or a csv file.

Mapping Enhancements
The mapping component shows both a condensed view and a split azimuth view on the chart surface. This setting can be configured in the Layers view. Other improvements include:
- Ability to print the current map view
- Drawing capabilities to annotate the map
- Filtering subjects
- Map Playback - a feature allowing events to be 'played' in a chronological order

Analyst's Notebook Integration
Insights automatically charts all of the rows in the files provided, allowing use of the rest of the Analyst's Notebook capabilities.

Microsoft Windows 10 Pro amd Windows Server 2016 support will be deprecated in a future Analyst's Notebook release.
Note: i2 products are supported on hardware virtualization environments that run any of the operating systems that are listed in the detailed system requirements. When you run in a virtual environment, any issues that can be replicated by i2 in a supported operating system are addressed by using the standard support policy. Trial editions of i2 Analyst's Notebook cannot be run in virtualized environments.
