Adding badges using conditional formatting
You can add badges to entities and links using conditional formatting rules.
About this task
Badges are small icons or indicators that can be displayed on entities or links within Analyst's Notebook charts. You can automatically assign badges to chart items based on specific data attributes or conditions. This task explains how to set up conditional formatting rules in the Rule Editor.
Procedure
Open your chart and navigate to Style > Conditional Formatting > Conditional Formatting Pane on the ribbon menu.
Create a new specification or select from Saved Specifications. The Edit Conditional Formatting Specification window opens.
Click New to open the New Rule window.
Define your rule format and criteria and select the Badge option in the Style to be changed section.
Select the position that you would like the badge to display. The available positions vary depending on whether you are creating an entity or link rule. The preview icon updates to reflect the position you choose.
In Style will be changed to section, you can select from a Specified value, you can set it to Leave unchanged, or you can select Clear. If you select Specified value, you can click the Edit option to choose the symbol that you want to apply. The dialog defaults to All. You can select a different category from the list, use your own custom symbols, or use the search bar to find specific symbols.
Under Options you can specify how subsequent rules behave, such as preventing the changing of the badge, leaving the badge unchanged for entities and links that do not match the rule, or setting it to another specified value.
To save the rule, click OK.
Results
If you edited an existing specification, your new badge rule is added to the end of the list.
